Strategic Diagnostics - Advanced Antibody Services and Products

Strategic Diagnostics, Inc. (SDI) is a publicly owned antibody technology company (NASDAQ: SDIX) based in Newark, Delaware with over 20 years of custom antibody production experience.

SDI is the largest custom antibody provider in the United States with over 60,000 animals dedicated to antibody production. Facilities are accredited by AAALAC, the highest standard in laboratory animal care. SDI is licensed by the USDA and is registered with NIH OLAW.

SDI develops and produces monoclonal and polyclonal antibody reagents for clients across a variety of life science and industrial markets. Custom antibody reagents are possible using conventional techniques or Genomic Antibody Technology™ (GAT). Monoclonal Antibody (mAb) production and purification using existing hybridoma cell lines is also available.

All work follows predictable timelines; all activities requiring your attention are scheduled at the beginning of the project. Our proprietary STAR tracking system allows you to securely view the live status of your projects anytime.

CUSTOM REAGENT AND ASSAY DEVELOPMENT

The lack of high-quality antibodies, the key to understanding the roles and relationships of proteins, has hindered the understanding of proteins with low concentrations in biologic samples. The void is a function of economics. A single antibody can cost thousands of dollars and invaluable amounts of time and labor to develop and produce.

Quality antibodies require quality antigens. While there are multiple approaches to obtaining an antigen, all of the traditional methods of acquiring antibodies are unpredictable, unreliable, time consuming and labor intensive.

The recombinant protein production and purification process is especially challenging. The DNA sequence is used to express protein in model organisms, which is then purified. With peptide synthesis, the peptide is synthesized and must be conjugated to a carrier protein.

These methods are expensive, time-consuming, unpredictable, and limited by quantity, size and conformational differences, so the research industry demanded a new, more efficient method.

GENOMIC ANTIBODY TECHNOLOGY

A system developed by SDI, Genomic Antibody Technology, produces antibodies to overcome the issues of protein specificity and reactivity. This performance is grounded in two proprietary advances: the bioinformatic analysis of epitope selection and the ability to immunize animals with antigen recombinantly produced in the host animal.

The protein analysis algorithm selects the optimal amino acids that ensure specificity by avoiding homologous sequences. Additionally, selection filters predict the ability of the protein to faithfully replicate its native folding structure.

In addition, since the sequence is the antigen, the ability to assimilate the resulting immunoassay data is directly linked to the source antibody and further to the epitope of the target protein encoded in the immunized plasmids. This direct link allows the overlaying of protein data via direct sequence comparison to the output of genomics, expression arrays, RNA knockdown, and cellular analysis.

Researchers stand to benefit with more accurate and linkable proteomic data generated through sequence-based antibody-derived protein data.

The SEQer oncology-focused portfolio, a product of GAT, consists of antibodies that target proteins associated in cancer pathogenesis and progression. The antibodies in the SEQer portfolio succeed in delivering usable data with more proteins in more applications, delivering better antibodies for better results.
