New European Patent Granted

ARTES announces the grant of the European patent on increasing recombinant protein secretion in yeast by co-expression of Calnexin, a protein responsible in intracellular quality control and sorting.
In extensive studies, ARTES could show that overexpression of Calnexin results in significant increase of protein secretion, independent of the nature of product or the size of fermentation. This technology further boosts the already high level of protein secretion in Hansenula but also in other yeast species.
The Calnexin patent is co-owned by ARTES Biotechnology GmbH and Rhein Biotech GmbH.
