INC Research First CRO to Provide Needed Analytical Toolset for Clinical Trials

11 October 2006

PHILADELPHIA, PA - June 19, 2006 - INC Research®, a therapeutically-focused contract research organization with a trusted process for delivering reliable results, has selected SAS® Drug Development (SDD) and the SAS® Enterprise Intelligence Platform for its new clinical data analysis and integration toolset. The SAS platform, when combined with INC Research’s clinical trial management expertise and integration, allows customers to historically view and analyze past and present trial data easily and confidently. The news was announced today at the Annual Meeting of the Drug Information Association, held June 18-22, 2006, in Philadelphia.

“With the new SAS platform, our customers can store data from every phase of past and present clinical trials pertaining to a particular drug or compound, and compare the data in a variety of ways. We have the ability to integrate data into a standardized format very effectively with this new technology and provide our clients with analysis across trials,” said Alistair Macdonald, vice president of INC DataSpectrum Americas, the INC Research division dedicated to data and statistical services.

“This service provides INC Research customers with a collaborative environment that gives them easy Web-based access to all of their clinical trial data that they store in the SDD repository. Having the ability to run extensive analysis across studies gives increased insight into the data collected throughout a drug development program. This technology gives INC Research the ability to perform these services for its customers more efficiently and in an industry leading, regulatory compliant environment. In other words, the system gives INC Research the ability to integrate the data from varied sources more rapidly and efficiently than ever before,” he added.

The fully validated platform is the result of a partnership with SAS®, wherein SAS will house the repository remotely and run the technical aspects of the application while INC Research manages the customer data integration and analysis portions. The repository can be used in a variety of scenarios – from rescue situations where data needs to be integrated rapidly to meet a submission or corporate deadline; or more methodically where customers want their data stored securely as they move through their drug development lifecycle and have continual access to it.

“This tool is very attractive to INC Research customers,” noted Macdonald. “Integrated reporting is a necessity that is difficult and time consuming to perform – we now have the ability to execute this service while removing a great deal of the frustration and pain traditionally associated with this task.”

INC Research expects the platform to be fully integrated by August 2006.
