RALEIGH, NC - June 9, 2006 - Staff members at the INC Research® headquarters gave generously to make the company the top ranking donor for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life® event, held April 20-21 in Raleigh. Relay For Life is an overnight event that celebrates cancer survivorship, raises money to help the American Cancer Society save lives, helps those who have been touched by cancer, and empowers individuals to fight back against this disease. During the event, teams of people gather at schools, fairgrounds, or parks and take turns walking or running laps. Each team keeps at least one team member on the track at all times. INC Research donated more than $10,000 this year.
David Williams, president and chief financial officer at INC Research, was captain of the company’s team. “This fundraising event was a wonderful experience for more than 50 of us involved,” he said. “Because our company mission is to help develop treatments for cancer on a global scale, supporting the cause in our hometown Relay event had special meaning.” INC Research staff members took part in the Relay itself, and many employees participated in internal fundraising as well. A silent auction, chili cook-off, and an INC Research t-shirt giveaway were just a few of the fundraising mechanisms employed by the staff.
