Neurofit is now pleased to offer the collagen induced-arthritis test in rats to its customers. This test evaluates the potency of compounds to inhibit arthritis inflammation.
Briefly, arthritis is induced in female Lewis rats using Bovine type II collagen. At the time of sensitization, each rat receive a first subcutaneous in the tail. Seven days later, a second collagen injection is carried out (boost injection).
Arthritis is monitored at day seven, 14, 17 and 21 post-immunization using the hind paw swelling as parameter. In this model, a daily dexamethasone treatment from day 14 to 20 fully prevents the hind paw swelling.
