Progen Launches Titration ELISA for Adeno-Associated Virus (AAV) Serotype 1

01 August 2007

Progen is pleased to announce a new AAV 1 Titration ELISA. The test is a unique microtiter plate enzyme immunoassay for the quantification of wildtype and recombinant virions and assembled and intact empty capsids of Adeno-associated virus Serotype 1.

AAV1 is a very promising serotype for gene therapy applications, showing superiour transduction of muscle, liver and vascular epithelium.

The virus titer can be determined either in tissue culture supernatant or in purified virus preparations. The new assay offers reliable titration of AAV1 capsids in the linear range of the assay between 7.5x10E8 to 5x10E10 capsids/ml. The whole assay can be completed in four hours, the capture antibody detects only assembled capsids, as it interacts with a conformational epitope not present on unassembled capsid proteins.
