ReseaChem was founded in 1996. It was established by Dr. Franz Baumberger and Stefan Berger as a spin-off from the then engineering school, Burgdorf. With the launch of the 24 hour NMR service in 1998, it set a milestone in Switzerland with regard to speed for complex services.

After starting synthesis of RNA components and natural materials in 2000, the main focus was placed, from very early, on life science. This was continued with the introduction of a routine isolation of natural materials for research and analysis in 2003.

CUSTOM SYNTHESIS SERVICES

ReseaChem offers a broad range of services in synthesis of single compounds for research and development purposes, to explorative synthesis of compounds or libraries.

In addition to the synthesis of any kind of organic compound, we produce reference substances for analytical purposes, which are not commercially available, or optimise existing syntheses programmes.

In our laboratories we have the necessary infrastructure to carry out most types of organic syntheses, from milligrams up to kilograms. Examples of our services include:

STRUCTURAL ELUCIDATION OF ORGANIC COMPOUNDS

We carry out the most common examination methods, such as NMR spectroscopy (all common nuclei such as H, C, P, as well as methods such as 1H, 13C, 13C-DEPT, COSY, HETCOR, HMBV), IR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry and coupled methods (GC-MS, LC-MS) as standard.

With our 24 hours NMR service (spectra within 24 hours), we offer our customers a good opportunity to outsource their NMR analytics to a competent partner.

ISOLATIONS/PURIFICATION ON ORDER

Natural material often possess pharmacological capabilities. In order to clarify those capabilities more precisely, larger amounts of substance are required on many occasions. A synthesis of these small amounts is often not profitable compared with isolation from a plant.

In phytotherapeutics, the reference compounds are often missing, which are required for quality control and are only cost-effectively available by isolation from the plant.

Reaction by-products must often be characterised more precisely and are therefore required in their pure form. Also in this case, isolation of these compounds is the most economic and fastest method. In addition to the established chromatographic separation methods, our laboratories have a modern preparative LC/MS system. Examples of our services in the area of natural materials include isolation of metabolites from enzymatic reactions, or isolation of D9-THC acid.
