Term: Adeno-Associated Virus

Definition:

Adeno-Associated Virus (AAV) can only replicate by having a cell co-infected with Adenovirus. In the absence of Adenovirus, AAV goes into a latent phase, and this is useful in gene therapy as genes of interest can live in the host cell for a long time.
