Mass Spectrometry

Mass spectrometry is a method of determining the chemical composition of a substance. The atoms or molecules in a substance are ionised by a beam of high-energy electrons. The ions are focussed by electrostatic and magnetic fields to give a spectrum, which can then be analysed.
