Effects of an Ultraviolet B Radiation Absorber on Photocarcinogenesis in Hairless Albino Mice

Non-melanoma skin cancer (NMSC), the most common type of human cancer, is mainly caused by solar ultraviolet radiation (UVR) exposure. UVR reaching the surface of the earth contains about 5% UVB (290nm–320nm) and 95% UVA (320nm–400nm) radiation.

Uvinul® T 150 (ethylhexyl triazone) is a highly effective UVB absorber that is approved in Europe, Japan and Australia for use in sunscreens at concentrations of up to 5%. The ability of Uvinul T 150 to reduce UVR carcinogenesis was investigated in a standard FDA-type photocarcinogenesis test using albino hairless mice.
